3 NETWORK MARKETING PROSPECTING MISTAKES AND HOW TO FIX THEM
When it comes to prospecting, have you ever thought that you’ve ran out of prospects or people to talk to? In this post, I want to show you 3 of the biggest prospecting mistakes and how to fix them.
When I started network marketing, I was always perturbed with the problem of not having enough people to talk to or share my business opportunity with, not having where to go or get prospects, I hunted all my friends but, no results still. Then the right mentor came into my life, taught me some tips and techniques that led to multiples of recruitsand this has made me to raise leaders that are also doing well today and helping others succeed too.
I want to share 3 of the biggest prospecting mistakes that I see many network marketers that I have worked with are making, even some network marketers in our company.
Number one is not using third party tools. What is third party tools? It’s the company website, it’s the company DVD, it’s the company magazine, it’s the webinar, seminar or conference call, it’s anything that you can point them to that does the presentation for you. Your job is to get them to watch or look at the tools.
You are not the message but the messenger. Your job is to get them see the message. Many prospects are already judging you based on how they have known you from the past, looking at you, asking themselves that do I have the time to do what he’s doing. When you use the third party tools, it takes the pressure off you.
When you give them the tool, simply tell them that don’t look at me…look at the message, I am the messenger and not the message. Just share the message by using the third party tools
If you didn’t use the third party tools, what will happen? They won’t care to act or want to do anything. Most of the time, you will get, ‘I’m not interested,’ ‘let me get back with you on this,’ ‘I haven’t made up my mind yet,’ ‘I will need to talk about this to my wife first.’ You need to always use the third party tools.
The second mistakes that I see people make is, saying too much. This is what you need to fight against. I trained myself on how to fight against this. I know that we are excited and enthusiastic about the solutions or opportunities that we have. We want to convey the excitement to others.
What many network marketers don’t know is that, they are looking at you and judging themselves that can I do what you did. Do I have the time to do what you did. Do I want to do to my friends and families what you just did to me. When you say too much, you will talk long and definitely talk wrong.
What of if you talk too much? You will miss their hot buttons and they will never part with their money. Most of the time, you will get the because-bomb. ‘Because I don’t have the money,’ ‘because I don’t have the time’ ‘because I need to think about it.’ Everything you say will be pointless. You won’t get their interest. You will also get, ‘It’s not for me,’ ‘this is not that important to me,’ ‘I can see why this is good for other people.’ The key is to say less to more people by using the third party tools.
Third mistake that I see is that people prejudge. I know people do this because I have also once been victimized of this fact by prejudging. Studies show that we know more than 2000 people by their first name in our early twenties.
So how come people get into this network marketing and said ‘I don’t know anyone, I only know few people?’ It is because they know the number of people that may not be willing to join them by prejudging. If you look at their facebook friends their phone contacts, it will amaze you. What about this, do they go to Church? Gym? Do they have friends and families and so on? The fact is, they know a lot of people but they are making a list of people they think they will never be interested or will never buy their products. It never work that way…
The reality is this, it is not who you know that matters but those whom you know knows. Many at times, people that have grown to become top leaders in my team are the people that were recruited by my direct downlinesand didn’t even recruited them myself. In this business, make the list of everyone you know and continue to add to your list. Don’t prejudge, connect with everyone you know and share your opportunity with them.
