The following excerpts were gotten from the interview:
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : This interview is projected basically to help give our youths reprogramming to network marketing, to let them know that they don’t need the government to make it in life and also, it’s to let them be aware that they can take full ownership of their lives. So let’s get started. Can we rock and roll?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Very well.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Thank you sir. Let me quickly appreciate you for the love that you have to change people’s lives most especially youths, and your passion to entrepreneurship is appreciated. Since you have told us about yourself, let start with, in your opinion, what are the causes of the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : The main reason for high rate of unemployment is simply because people haven’t discovered themselves and thereby do not know what they carry to impact and benefit the society. All of us aren’t meant to be salary earners, some are meant to simply be employers of labour and must start small to learn through the curves.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : If I may ask, why would someone not willing to start small. Zig ziglar once said, ‘you need to start at the bottom, all the people that start at the top ends in the hole.’ How relevant is this quote and the unwillingness of not starting small today sir?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Network Marketing is a Business of leverage and connection if you like. We are all connected either by family or friends or neighbors, classmates, colleagues. So network marketing says use this connection to teach people business and also benefit from it. So you Learn before you Earn but the Beauty of it is that it can be a lifelong adventure. So, it’s a better way to start off with network marketing business for anyone that wishes to start small and learn even as he grows and earn simultaneously.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : OMG….this is incredible. What do you know or understand about network marketing?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : What I enjoy most about network marketing is helping people solve their problems or meeting their needs which by default improves me and makes me a solution provider, I earn respect, reputation, improve my integrity and of course the monies that follow afterwards.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : So, in short, network marketers are problem solvers that brings changes to all and sundry?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Yes, it is.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : What do you enjoy most about entrepreneurship?
Mr Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : What I enjoy most about network marketing is helping people solve their problems or meeting their needs which by default improves me and makes me a solution provider, I earn respect, reputation, improve my integrity and of course the monies that follow afterwards.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Great. You are a network marketer guru per excellence and a successful business man, what to you, do you think makes you such great success in network marketing and in your own established company?
Mr Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Divine Guidance, Discipline, Discretion, Diligence, Enthusiasm, Respect and Loyalty and Divine Connection.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : In a practical demonstration, how does this applies in the business world?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : As a network marketer, you don’t jump at everything you see. Seek for guidance from God, very important and from Mentors, you can rely on their expertise. You need to be seriously disciplined in Network Marketing… Delay gratification, defer pleasure, be committed and dedicated to the business that’s Diligence, just keep at it, though it tarries, you are learning wait for it, you will soon start earning…
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : wow. Can you tell us about a challenge you’ve faced at a point as a network marketer or as a business owner and how you dealt with it?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Rejection is the main challenge. Or if you like acceptability.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : How were you able to surmout it?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : At first I thought I was the one been rejected, I never knew my strategies were wrong.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Hmmmm. Tell me more.
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : There is no straight jacket strategy for all customer so you need to find out how best to meet and market a customer on case by case basis. Restrategising for me was I needed to know more about what I am doing before I can sell it because questions will be asked and they need sincere answers.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : That’s true. How do you think network marketing is the solution to youth unemployment in Nigeria?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Network Marketing provides opportunities for youths to learn what they have never been taught in school and these are the things that the society needs to survive not whether you have a First Class or Pass Degree…. Society is not paying for your talent, they are paying for your skills…. Some things I have learnt today in Network Marketing, even with a Ph.D I wouldn’t have known them, that is why a Network Marketer that is sound can bamboozle a professor in the University.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Smiles… What do you feel are the keys to success in network marketing?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Sorry sir, hope you aren’t a prof?
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Laughs. I am not sir. I am a lifestyle entrepreneur.
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : The keys to success in network marketing includes,
–Commitment
–Diligence
–Integrity
–Enthusiasm(feel good about yourself and what you do,) some network marketer don’t exhume charisma at all. Package yourself well, don’t overdo or be a copycat, be unique.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : I am learning, Where do you think network marketing industry is headed in the next 5 years?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : I know for a fact that all that has happened will take the industry to a place where in 5years time the wheat would have been separated from the chaff. Meaning that we will have more trusted Network Marketers Because we have been able to weather the storm, no thanks but all thanks to some Ponzi and Pyramid schemes.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : “No thanks but all thanks to some Ponzi and Pyramid schemes”
What do you mean here?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : It made people also classify genuine network marketers as Ponzi players but time proved us right.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : That’s true. If I may ask, what’s the difference between a ponzi scheme and a network marketing business opportunity?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Very simple, Ponzi is robbing Peter to pay Paul… So if there are no longer Peters to rob, Pauls will go loss.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : I am seriously learning more today. What a wonderful moment here. So, what makes network marketing business opportunity differs?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Network Marketing is either a product is been sold, a service is been rendered and has a business model that is meant to grow.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Definitely, that’s true. What are the biggest challenges facing the network marketing industry in Nigeria today?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Ponzi and Pyramid schemes seem more accepted than real network marketing companies because people are lazy, they aren’t willing to do due diligence and want quick and massive returns. Another challenge is the industry isn’t regulated, every Tom, Dick and Harry can wake up on the wrong side of the bed and take advantage of people’s gullibility and make some earnings.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Hmm. Are there any way to you that these issues or challenges can be corrected?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Very well, massive enlightenment, then Government should create an agency to monitor compliance and regulate players in that industry.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Like the one we are embarking on at Naija Marketing Pro I guess.
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Exactly brother.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Please tell me more
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Outside the country like in Europe and US, the government can measure the contribution of these network marketing companies to their economic growth.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : How I wish our government can do something concerning this matter.
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : With more platforms to speak about it and involve our legislators, definite statement will be made in that regard.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : That’s true. Where do you see Nigerian youths in five years to now?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Double edge question here…Some youths will remain poor because they have refused to renew their minds and change their believe systems, these same youths will keep pointing fingers at you and I that have decided to make an impact because we will keep growing. The truth however is that I foresee more youths taking their own destinies in their hands because it’s a stone cold fact and clear now, that Government cant do much.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Awesome. This is the more reason why Naija Marketing Pro is established so we can teach people most especially youths how to take ownership of their lives. What do you think Nigerian political leaders could do better to tackle the high rate of youth unemployment in the nation?
Mr Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Politicians wonderful people. They should know political office is mainly for service. Government should also make these offices less attractive so that people don’t aspire to go there to solve their poverty problems by misappropriating funds. The Salaries and Wages Commission should reduce salaries of all political office holders and also decentralize the government.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Smiles….What do you like to do outside of work?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : I socialize alot especially on the media, but I am also an information seeking people willing to learn and see business opportunities any and everywhere. But I play music alot… I am a keyboardist for 22yrs now, so I have that as one of the things I do outside work.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Awesome What encouragement/what do you have for Naija Marketing Pro Community?
Mr. Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : Your initiative is laudable and unequalled. You shouldn’t relent…. Your experience and quality of what you do will shoot you to limelight…
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Thank you sir.
Mr Idenyi Emmanuel Shaibu : The pleasure is mine.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : All of us at Naija Marketing Pro says thank you sir for creating a time out of your own busy scheduled time to have this conversation with us today.
