Since 2016, our company has generated millions of naira in product sales using the internet, using social media, so I’m going to share with you the best and very powerful strategies that will help you in this post.
1. Choose the most relevant social network for your business

How To Use Social Media To Sell Products
Signing up on social networks is easy, but the secret of selling online is to be active on the same platform as your potential customers.
You can read that again: “the secret of selling online is to be active on the same platform as your potential customers”
This is the basis for selling your products online successfully.
That’s why clothing and decoration sell well at Pinterest, for example, and B2B salespeople get leads on LinkedIn.
So start by identifying the social networks where most of your audience is.
While YouTube and Facebook have most of all age groups, Forrester Research found that decision makers mainly use Twitter and LinkedIn.
So if you’re selling products to a very young audience, focus on Facebook and Instagram.
To sell products or services aimed at companies and decision makers, focus on LinkedIn and Twitter.
2. Provide value by sharing relevant content
More than 50% of buyers are looking for information about products and services on social media.
So you have a great opportunity to sell on the social media by creating promotional content for your product / service, based on what people are already researching.
Among the most popular content types on the networks, I can highlight the following:
- “How to do” posts
- “Why” posts
- Motivational content
- Lists (rankings)
- Videos
Now, there is no limit to what you can share as long as the content adds value to the customer.
There is no faster way to lose public interest than to share irrelevant and self-promotional content.

3. Know these pillars know progress.

How To Use Social Media To Sell Products
First, I want to share with you two pillars of growing and selling online.
You need to know these pillars if you’re going to build a successful business.
What are these two pillars of growing your business online?
They are prospecting and marketing. Yes, prospecting and marketing.
Now just because you’re wanting to sell more products on social media doesn’t mean you can’t reach out to individuals and in fact, when I first got serious about selling on social media, I did both.
I created posts that I hoped would attract people to me and would lead to sales but I also reached out to people that I thought might have interest in my products and so in your efforts of making money on social media and making money online, make sure that if you’re not generating leads just yet, then keep marketing, keep the faith, keep doing things in a manner to increase those chances but remember, you can also reach out to people.
People that you know and people that you do not know
When you’re trying to make money on social media, don’t just limit yourself to marketing because sometimes marketing takes time, it does take a little bit of time to get off the ground and start getting people attracted to you and start building a following.
In the meantime, you could be reaching out to people.
So the two pillars; prospecting and marketing works magic!
4. Build your network.

How To Use Social Media To Sell Products
There’s no two ways about it; you will need to take on the grunt work of actually building your network.
The best advice I can offer here is to create daily, weekly and monthly goals so that you are committed to a pace of engagement from the outset.
Search the relevant social sites to find people who are talking about your industry or using related keywords.
Then, begin retweeting them, responding to questions they pose or sharing something they say that you find to be intriguing.
By contributing to your prospects’ conversations, you build them up and add value to their network.
Social media is a powerful tool for any business because of its reach and the large chance of boosting your sales and getting profitable ROI from it — if you’ve used it correctly.
The most important way to making sure this happens is to build trust, loyalty, and a genuine relationship with your would-be customers, and the rest will fall into place. Good luck!
