The following excerpts were gotten from the interview.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Can you tell us a little about yourself, your journey, what led you to network marketing and how has it been?
Lynda Iheanachor : Thank you so much for the honor of being able to share with your audience. I am Lynda Iheanachor. My journey in network marketing started in 2014. However, before then I used to be a corporate executive at a financial institution where I worked for five years. What led me to network marketing was because of my quest for a better life. When I left my corporate job, I didn’t come straight to network marketing. I didn’t even know what I was going to do but what I knew was that I was tired of the cycle. It just seems there was no end. But there was something that triggers that decision, when I looked at the lives of those people ahead of me at the time at the job, with nothing to show for their works, having a huge debts, travelling crazy distances to get to job place. And also, when the economic issue sets in, I found myself at the middle of politics even though I was always the top performer in the company, I found myself stocked and that was what led me to my entrepreneurial journey full time. When I started my entrepreneurial journey, I started with real estate but it just didn’t worked out. I later went into opening an online store but it didn’t work also. Having all these, I was actually looking for leverage, I want to make money and have a life and that was what led me to network marketing.
But the journey hasn’t been easy, there has been ups and downs but everything put together, I will say that I am grateful if I am to look at how I started and where I was even coming from, from my undergraduate days, I never believed in personal development as I have always seen it as a boring stuff but it was network marketing that changed my orientation, network marketing also opened me to the kind of income that I have never earned in my entire life. Network marketing opened me up to a lot of relationships. I used to be a shy person but that shyness is no more there. To sum it up, it’s been one of the greatest decisions I made so far in my life.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Why should I choose network marketing and who should consider network marketing business model?
Lynda Iheanachor : I believe you should choose network marketing if you know what you are looking for. Most of the people that I have seen that quitted quickly were those that didn’t know what they want. When I started I knew what I wanted, I knew I wanted leverage. Also, you must be ready to work on your growth level because your earnings doesn’t depend on whether your people are working or not but it is depended on your learning ability. You should consider network marketing if you are the kind of person that loves leverage, the kind of person that loves personal development and leadership development, if you are the kind of person that appreciate team work and building relationships. If you are the kind of person that loves making a life, have fun and to discover your worth, you should consider network marketing.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Who shouldn’t do network marketing?
Lynda Iheanachor : Who shouldn’t consider network marketing? The person that is not ready to learn, the person that is not coachable, someone who doesn’t value personal development and the person that is looking for quick scheme to riches without putting in any kind of work though, network marketing can make you be rich quick but not in the way many people sees it. If you want to get rich quick, you need to work quick and outwork everybody else. If you also believe that you know it all, network marketing is not for you. Network marketing is team oriented, being that person that believes he knows it all will make it impossible for others to work with you. People that values excuses over their dreams shouldn’t bother to be involved in network marketing and the person that is too egotistical to see help even when help is staring at them shouldn’t consider network marketing and the person that is not ready to build their beliefs. The beliefs I have now, I wasn’t born with it, it was developed by hours and hours of learning by investing and emerging myself in good books and success stories.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : What do we say about this : “People who know it all.” Can this kind of people go far? If yes, why and if no, why?
Lynda Iheanachor : No, the people that knows it all cannot go far and such people are one of the people that shouldn’t consider network marketing. If you think you know it all and you are not ready to drop that attitude, honestly network marketing isn’t for you. If you think you know it all, how can you receive help? You cannot! You are struggling with your business and you are not ready to be helped, it cannot work. The best way to go far is to go with people and network marketing is people’s business, it is a personal development business that we get paid for.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : What is the greatest challenge that you ever faced as a network marketer and how were you able to dealt with it?
Lynda Iheanachor : The greatest challenge I ever faced was the challenge of rejection and the challenge of getting past rejection, getting past what other people think. I came from a background of corporate environment, go to school and get a job. I wasn’t even challenged about how prospect will reject me but more about my peers and family due to my background. I was just so scared of what they thought that it affected my output and also, before I learn better, I would hold to rejection, when somebody says no, I will just feel so bad until I know that the best thing you can do for yourself is to divorce yourself from the outcome. You cannot control what others think or would say but you can control what you want or actions through your own thoughts and once I got that and I held on to it, it has helped me a lot and I now have posture. To sum it up, my greatest challenge so far has been problem of posture and since I got the understanding that this is a great industry, and that I am actually helping other people by giving them opportunities, once I got all these, I was completely free.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Looking at your record, how many months, or years can it take a newbie in network marketing to break even? Can someone still beat your record today in your company or network marketing business generally?
Lynda Iheanachor : How many years can it take someone to beat my records? (Smiles) I don’t think I have a record yet but the beautiful thing about network marketing is that you are the captain of your ship. You want to create massive success within six months, then be ready for massive actions. Can somebody else beat my record or succeed in my business? Why not! It depends on how hungered you are. It doesn’t matter what level you may be, you should keep working as if you just got started.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : How do you think network marketing is the solution to youth unemployment in Nigeria?
Lynda Iheanachor : I don’t believe network marketing is the solution to youth unemployment in Nigeria neither do I believe that anything in particular is the solution to such a wide or broad challenge. I believe network marketing is the solution to the person that is rightly fit. There could be unemployed youths in Nigeria that network marketing is the right fit for them and those kind of people, network marketing could be the solution for them however, I believe the solution to youth unemployment in Nigeria is more internal. There are so many people roaming around the streets with entitlement mentality and there are so many people with skills that are either waiting for permission. I believe the solution to youth unemployment is largely internal than what can be done for them. There’s need for personal development. When the awareness increases, people begins to do what they never thought possible to do. People begins to surprise themselves. I have fantastic youths that are affecting OR changing their community positively, it’s all about what you carry within.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : How do one builds this business and duplicate his team success?
Lynda Iheanachor : You need to understand the basics, which is that network marketers are paid for three things, recruit, sponsor new people, retail your product or service and you are paid for leadership and what is leadership? It is not about having the title, leadership is all about duplication and that is where the success is, because network marketing is not a solo game, you cannot be a superstar on your own. Like I said earlier on, you need a team. If you can focus on this three areas : recruit, retail and lead. Then teach your team players to do the same. Your success is guaranteed.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : As a network marketer, how do I double up my prospecting power and recruits more reps?
Lynda Iheanachor : Network marketing is a game of numbers. To double up your prospecting power and recruits more reps, talk to more people, show the plan to more people. That is it. You can also leverage on the social media. To make more money, show more people the plan. To have the lifestyle you are dreaming of, show more people the plan.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : What do you do after work?
Lynda Iheanachor : When I am not working, I enjoy myself with my family. I don’t even see myself working because I see myself as a lifestyle entrepreneur. My work is my life and my life is my work but when am not prospecting or having a team call or something, I just chilled with my family, watch movies or read books and that’s it. But I read a lot, I listen to lots of personal development audios.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : Any encouragement for network marketers?
Lynda Iheanachor : I will tell you this, as a network marketer, you need to be very proud of yourself, you are actually like a Santa Claus, you are the one with the gifts, you are the one that determines whom you share this gifts with, nobody should make you feel bad. You are the one that will give the people the permission to make you feel bad which to me, doesn’t really make sense. You are the one that has the opportunity that can change people’s lives, when they say no to it, it’s actually a loss for them because they’ve actually missed an opportunity to be better, to achieve their dreams faster and be happier. So you should be proud of yourself as a network marketer. This is a noble profession, you are a nation builder. As a network marketer, you have to be proud, nobody has the right to make you feel small, you are the only one that can permit others to make you feel so.
Ayodeji Oladeji Charles : What encouragement/words do you have for Naija Marketing Pro Community?
